THE PARKWAY DIFFERENCE
As parents, our biggest goal is to give our children a better life than we had. We want our children to experience success. We put all of our energy and resources into setting a foundation to bring about earthly success. When parents are contemplating Parkway Christian School as a means to achieve this goal, they frequently ask us to identify what makes Parkway different. The answer can be found in our motto, Challenging Minds, Capturing Hearts and Cultivating Gifts. We believe it is our responsibility to help each child reach his or her full potential academically. We use developmental and differentiated teaching methods to tailor the curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child. We believe it is our responsibility to create an environment that fosters relationship building, both peer to peer and staff to student. One new high school student remarked, “Parkway has more connections between students, even across the grades.” We provide many activities to allow the students time and opportunity to build these relationships, and we hire staff that considers the work at Parkway to be more than a job. For our staff, it is a mission. We are in partnership with our parents and we take this partnership very seriously. As one parent put it, “I like that my kids can develop personal relationships with other students and teachers and they can be ministered to through those relationships and also can minister to others.”
We believe it is our responsibility to discover the gifts and talents of a child as early as possible and to focus our energies on helping that child develop and use those gifts. We want to celebrate the honor student as well as the athlete, the artist, the musician, and every student, no matter the gift. We want our students to understand they were purposefully created to fulfill a distinct destiny. While most schools acknowledge the need to educate the whole child and have a program similar to what is found at Parkway that combines the academic, athletic, fine arts and social needs of the students , there is one glaring omission, addressing the needs of the spiritual component of the child is absent. Parkway Christian School is designed to provide parents with an educational system that is purposefully developed to present a curriculum and environment that teaches the child about all of God’s creation and all of life, not just part of it. We want the student to embrace the spiritual and grow in this area as much as the others. We provide Bible classes, chapels, student leadership groups, and many other activities to help the student find their identity in Christ. To sum it up, we want our students to be surrounded by an atmosphere that helps them develop into the adults they were created to be, and be ready to step into their destiny.
